The Son of God

Theme 1:
In what sense Jesus is the Son Of God?
People throughout the ages, tried to understand the relationship between Jesus and God the Father. Some went even to erroneously project human relationships between God the Father and the Virgin Mary! However according to the scriptures Jesus existed before Abraham [John 8:58]. So what kind of relationship exists between God the Father and Jesus?
Jesus (as a heavenly being) is the only begotten Son of God [John 1:14, John 3:16, 1 John 4:9]. Many people are called sons of God, every Christian when (s)he accepts the salvation of Christ, is reinstated to be a child of God. Adam was a son of God before the fall, the Angels in heaven are also called sons of God! However Jesus is different because he is the only Son of God, if this is the case, what happens to all those who are called sons of God? Are they really sons of God, or are they all equal to Jesus? Jesus is the only Son of God in the sense that Jesus is the only begotten being having the same essence and substance of God [John 1:1, John 17:5]. Other sons of God are called as such because they were created by God, however they do not have the same essence and substance as God. This is a very important distinction that sets Jesus apart from all other beings [Hebrews 1:3-14]. He has the same essence of God the Father [John 10:30, John 12:45, John 14:11, Isaiah 9:6]. This means that Jesus although He emanated (begotten not created) from God the Father, He coexisted with the Father [Proverbs 8:23] outside time and space, and through Jesus, God the Father created everything [John 1:3], therefore Jesus is the Creator, and Isaiah calls Him “The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father” [Isaiah 9:6] declaring Him one with God.
God the Father, Has always been a Father to Jesus, constantly and without interruption, and at no point inside or outside time Jesus was not there in the bosom [John 1: 18] of the Father as shown in [Proverbs 8:30], and [Micah 5:2].
Peter in his second epistle clearly gives glory only to Jesus Christ and refers to Jesus as “Him” [2 Peter 3:18], the same way God the Father was referred to in the old testament.
